The storage area of a factory in Benoi Crescent was ablaze and filled with thick black smoke in the early Saturday morning.
According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), they were alerted of the fire at about 4am. It was fortunate that all seven workers of the factory had fled to safety before the fire fighters brought the flame under control. The neighbouring factories were not affected by the fire and it was a relief that there was no injury in this incident.
The news source mentioned that the SCDF are still investigating the cause of the fire.
Fire can happen anytime when least expected. Even though there is no injury in a fire incident, fire can cause damages to your property and impact your business severly. After the fire, one will also suffer substantial financial and emotional situations.
The knowledge on fire safety plays an important role in safeguarding lives and valuable assets from damage by the fire. Every employer should familiarise their employees with fire safety measures and raise general awareness of fire safety.
Examples of fire safety activities:
- Formulate fire emergency plan
